Manitoba Indigenous leaders led a traditional ceremony Monday, March 26, 2018 to thank a visiting Maori delegation for the gift of a traditional model of child welfare to reunite fractured Aboriginal families.

Winnipeg-based social service agency Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre played host to the ceremony and invited government funders and private sponsors — along with leaders from the Manitoba Metis Federation, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak and Southern Chiefs’ Organization — to greet the New Zealand delegation.

David is a Rotary Club of Winnipeg member and a volunteer Board member of a national charity created by the Rotary Club of Toronto called Honouring Indigenous Peoples (“HIP”)  www.rotaryhip.com and as West Regional Director is  responsible with fellow Indigenous Board member, Diane Redsky, for inspiring and facilitating Rotarian and other mainstream society relationships with Indigenous Peoples.

"This is the way humans can become human again, through the decolonization process," said David, who helped secure funding from the Winnipeg Foundation for the program.
