Estate Litigation Associate

Pitblado Law is seeking a litigation associate to join our estate litigation team. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing team of lawyers whose practices focus on estate litigation. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working closely with clients, takes ownership of their files, and wants to build their practice with the mentorship and support of experienced colleagues.

We are looking for someone with (at least) two to five years of litigation experience. Estate litigation experience would be an asset, but lawyers from other litigation practices who are interested in building a practice focused on estate litigation are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing litigation files and working with clients from initial consultation through to completion of matters.
  • Advising clients on disputes involving estates, wills, trusts, powers of attorney and related matters.
  • Drafting notices of application and motion, affidavits, briefs and other pleadings and court materials.
  • Conducting legal research, reviewing evidence, and developing case strategies.
  • Conducting examinations and representing clients at hearings, mediations and other stages of the litigation process.
  • Working collaboratively with Partners, Associates, Legal assistants, and other members of the team to deliver timely, practical advice to clients and to produce exceptional work.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least two to five years of litigation experience (estate litigation an asset).
  • Strong legal research, analysis, drafting, and advocacy skills.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to manage files and competing deadlines.
  • A thoughtful, client-focused approach to sensitive and sometimes complex disputes.
  • An interest in learning, receiving feedback and practising in an area of law that is in high demand.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to treating clients and colleagues with respect.

Why Join Pitblado Law

You will join a growing team where you can take on meaningful work, learn from experienced lawyers, and help shape your own practice. Pitblado provides administrative and technology support, continuing legal education, and dedicated marketing and business development resources, including a budget and other marketing tools to help you build professional relationships.

Our lawyers work in a collegial environment that values initiative, open dialogue, and doing excellent work together. Firm events, community involvement, and opportunities to connect with colleagues are part of life at Pitblado.

We offer a competitive base salary with the opportunity to increase your earnings as your practice develops, along with comprehensive benefits.

Our Commitment

At Pitblado, we build strong relationships, treat people with respect, and work toward results that matter to our clients. We welcome candidates who share those values.

We are committed to an accessible recruitment process. Applicants may request accommodation at any stage of the selection process.
