Congratulations to John Toone, a distinguished lawyer who has now retired from the practice of law and as a senior partner of our firm after a remarkable 50-year career, a significant part of the firm’s 140-year history.
Called to the Manitoba Bar in 1974 when the firm was known as Pitblado and Hoskin, his whole career has been with our firm. His practice primarily focused on corporate and business matters, and commercial real estate law. Throughout his career, he has represented major local and North American businesses, financial institutions, commercial landlords, real estate developers, manufacturers, investors, professionals, and construction and agribusiness entities. He has guided countless clients through complex legal landscapes and assisted them in their successes and growth.
John also had extensive commitment to not-for-profit corporations, foundations, and trusts, personally as well as professionally, helping to further their missions and impact on the community. He has a strong belief in the power of the law to effect positive change by not-for-profit entities.
John’s legacy is not only measured by the successful transactions and cases he has handled for his clients but also by the relationships he has built and the respect he has garnered from those clients, as well as colleagues, and the legal community. His mentorship and guidance over the decades have influenced the careers of many young lawyers at our firm, instilling in them the values of integrity, diligence, respect, and unwavering dedication to clients. Those lawyers, now associate lawyers and partners of our firm, continue in those values in their services to firm clients.
We bid farewell to John in his professional capacity, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his invaluable contributions to Pitblado Law. He will be missed.
