Canadian Associates of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (CABGU), Manitoba chapter, is delighted to announce a Gala Dinner honouring Hope and Howard Morry and featuring Guest Speaker Professor Alan Dershowitz.

Howard and Hope Morry are a living example that two hearts are better than one.

Hope has played a leadership role in fundraising in Winnipeg’s Jewish community and has served on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, Hadassah-WIZO, the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University (Winnipeg Chapter), the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and the Manitoba Opera. She has chaired some of the most successful events in Winnipeg history, and has been honoured by a number of organizations, including State of Israel Bonds, which recognized her with its Aliyah Award on Israel’s 50th anniversary.

Howard has also volunteered extensively in Winnipeg and nationally. His many affiliations include: youngest President in the history of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, founding member of the Arab-Jewish Dialogue, two-time Co-Chair of Combined Jewish Appeal’s annual campaign, regional President of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University, State of Israel Bonds, JNF, Hadassah-WIZO, the Jewish Heritage Centre, Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, UIA Federations Canada and the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba. In 2011, he was awarded The Max and Mollie Shore Award for his Jewish community work.

Professionally, Howard is a Partner at Pitblado Law and has been recognized by his peers across Canada, with Martindale Hubbell’s “AV,” the highest rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. With expertise in tax and estate planning, he has held leadership positions in the field. Howard is proud to have made a significant contribution to the advancement of aboriginal leadership in the Canadian business community, and served for 25 years on the national Board of Directors of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.

He has also been a prolific writer – after an early stint with his own column in the Winnipeg Tribune he has contributed to numerous tax and financial journals across Canada. Howard was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his volunteer leadership and professional accomplishments.

Hope and Howard are truly thankful for being recognized by Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, one of Israel’s great institutions of higher learning, and for being associated with the legacy of one of their heroes, David Ben-Gurion.
