Pitblado Law is pleased to welcome Brant Harvey, Rod Shannon, Karen Poetker, Michael Puchniak and Kathleen McCandless to the Firm’s Partnership, effective January 1, 2017.
Brant, Karen, and Michael each received their Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Manitoba and joined the Firm in 2008.
Brant practices corporate and commercial law, advising businesses on deals, contracts, governance, and commercial real estate in Manitoba, and is currently on the Board of Directors for Variety Children’s Charity of Manitoba. He also completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree at the University of Manitoba in 2002.
Karen practices litigation, with a focus on construction, commercial and insurance litigation, as well as personal and collection matters. She also completed a Master of Arts degree from Ryerson/York Universities in 2004, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba in 2001.
Michael practices corporate and commercial law, advising businesses on structure, growth, governance, and secured transactions, and is currently a Director for the Canadian Sport Centre of Manitoba as well as the University of Manitoba Alumni Association. He also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 2003.
Rod joined the Firm in 1984, and since then has practiced civil litigation, with extensive experience in complex commercial and insurance cases. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1976, and his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1982.
Kathleen joined the Firm in 2014, and practices civil litigation in commercial, professional negligence, and insurance matters, and in administrative and regulatory proceedings. Kathleen completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1999, and her Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Manitoba in 2006 – for which she earned the University Gold Medal. She is a current Council Member for the Manitoba Bar Association and is on the Board of Directors for The Laurel Centre Inc.
