Biography
As the leader of our Technology Law Group, Adam’s practice encompasses corporate, commercial, startup, scaleup, innovation, information technology (IT) and intellectual property law, with a focus on technology and adjacent transactions. Over the past two decades, Adam has become a known commercial technology law leader, providing legal counsel to technology-based and emerging growth businesses, entrepreneurial and innovative ventures, as well as the many ‘players’ in the innovation ecosystem that support them, such as incubators, accelerators and investors.
He has acted for some of Manitoba’s largest companies, all of whom rely on Adam for specialized advice with respect to acquisition, development, use, protection and commercialization of technology and other intellectual property, as well as its privacy law implications.
He also continues to practice in traditional areas of business law, such as mergers and acquisitions, financial and insurance services, and acts for multiple non-profit and charitable organizations at a provincial and federal level.
Over the years, Adam has been recognized by Best Lawyers® in Canada for his proficiency as legal counsel in several categories related to technology transactions.
Adam is a long time supporter of the startup community in Manitoba and is proud to have assisted in the establishment of the fabrication lab which makes up part of North Forge, an incubator accelerator and entrepreneur community fueling Manitoba’s innovative science-based, technology-enabled, and advanced manufacturing startups.
He is a past Chair, and current member, of the Manitoba Bar Association Technology & Intellectual Property Law Section, and is a former Director, and current member, of Can-Tech, the Canadian Technology Law Association. He also currently sits on the Investment Committee of Manitoba Innovates.
In 2025, Adam was proud to have been appointed to the Manitoba government’s Innovation and Productivity Task Force, co-chaired by Innovation and New Technology Minister Mike Moroz, and Jim Balsillie, Founder & Chair, Council of Canadian Innovators. The Task Force was formed to provide strategic advice regarding the safe and secure implementation of new and emerging technologies to support the economy and promote data-driven decision-making.
Most recently, on March 18, 2026, pursuant to an Order-in-Council, Adam was appointed by Innovation and New Technology Minister Mike Moroz, as a director and chair of the board of directors of Research Manitoba. Research Manitoba is the provincial research agency that promotes, supports, and coordinates the funding of research excellence and innovation in health, natural and social sciences, engineering and the humanities in Manitoba.
